NTAC Report: Enhancing School Safety Using A Threat Assessment Model: An Operational Guide for Preventing Targeted School Violence

The U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) has just released its report, “Enhancing School Safety Using A Threat Assessment Model: An Operational Guide for Preventing Targeted School Violence.” This report identifies the necessary steps to formulate a comprehensive targeted violence prevention plan. While the focus of this document is on school-related violence, it is also relevant in workplace violence prevention, and would resonate with corporate partners, educators, and health professionals as well.

NTAC is a component of the U.S. Secret Service that conducts research, training, consultation, and information sharing on threat assessment and the prevention of targeted violence. In addition to attacks on K-12 schools, colleges, and universities, NTAC has studied violence directed at government officials and agencies, workplaces, and public spaces. The role of NTAC in the prevention of targeted school violence includes school safety initiatives and recommended steps for establishing threat assessment programs in schools.
