About This Program

This week long certification class focuses on the mechanisms to ensure supervisors are conducting effective and constitutional investigations. The training is valuable for not only those assigned to the Internal Affairs function but all supervisors. We welcome supervisors from police, EMS, Fire, Corrections and Municipal Human Resource professionals. The training will review all aspects of an effective investigation including proper legal and operational standards. We will also focus on conducting hot topic investigations like technology abuse, social media, sexual harassment, use of force and OIS investigations. At the completion of the training we will ensure that effective policies set the standards and supervisors understand how to navigate the murky waters of labor law.
